Ecuadorian airline TAME launches new daily Guayaquil-New York route

Ecuadorian airline TAME will launch a new route between Guayaquil – Ecuador, and New York on Nov. 22.

The route will be operated with an Airbus A330, offering service seven days a week between Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil and John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Ecuador Minister of Tourism Vinicio Alvarado will join the inaugural flight on Friday, Nov. 22 from Guayaquil along with prominent authorities Ecuadorian and members of the press. The inauguration will be celebrated on Nov. 23 with a launch event in Queens, New York, home to the largest Ecuadorian population in the United States.

“The launch of new daily service to New York represents a major milestone for TAME and for Ecuador’s tourism industry,” said Minister Alvarado. “There is already a strong demand from this market and this will only increase as more travelers become savvy to Ecuador’s world-class tourism offering.”

Guayaquil is the country’s main port and economic hub. The area boasts significant regional influence in commercial, financial and cultural activities, and serves an important center for Ecuador’s manufacturing industries as well as a home to key business enterprises. Guayaquil Airport was recognized as the Best Regional Airport in South America in the 2012 World Airport Awards.
